The context

Belmont West is a luxurious church redevelopment in Glasgow’s West End. It is made up of 21 apartments, penthouses and townhouses, as well as 3 urban homes, result of both new buildings and the renovation of the old church with its traditional, historic features that date all the way back to 1894.

The client wanted us to design and build a website that would promote the development and inspire people to find out more. Everything about the properties oozes luxury, from the finish of the property to the soft furnishing, so the target was set to attract the high-end rental market.

The approach

To create a luxurious feeling, I felt that the experience had to be based on a very simple layout, with a focus on the contrast between small, precious-feel typography, and big CGI images to showcase the development in all its glory. Features derived from the branding, such as doodles, have been used sparingly throughout the website to mirror the church’s architectural features, and subtle micro-interactions on the pages help making the navigation smooth. One of the most exclusive features of the website was the custom floorplan that I designed, which allowed users to browse the individual levels of the development in order to contextualise the apartments.

More than half of the apartments had been sold or reserved after just a few months of the website going live.
